1578  William Harvey, English physician, developed theory of blood circulation, was born.
1815  Otto von Bismark, German statesman & first chancellor of the German Empire 1871-90, was born.
1873  Sergei Rachmaninoff, Russian composer & piano virtuosos, was born in Russia.
1891  The Wrigley Company was founded in Chicago, Illinois.
1976  Apple Inc. was formed by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne.

 742  Charlemange, King of the Franks, King of the Lombards and Charles I of the Holy Roman Empire, was born.
1513  Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon landed in Florida.
1872  Samuel F.B. Morse, developer of the electric telegraph, died at at age 80.
1875  Walter Chrysler, American businessman & founder of Chyrsler Corp., was born.
1914  Alec Guinness, English actor, was born.
1982  Argentina invaded the disputed Falkland Islands (Britain).
